Peer Review Process
At Inventum Biologicum, we adhere to a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the highest standards of scientific integrity and quality. The following 8 steps outline our peer review and editorial process, which aligns with internationally recognized guidelines.
Step 1: Submission and Acknowledgment
Authors are required to submit their manuscripts through our online submission system or email to the Chief Editor (editor@worldbiologica.com). Each submission must include a signed Ethical Statement. Upon receipt, the manuscript is assigned a unique Manuscript (MS) number and acknowledged via email. If the Ethical Statement is not provided, the corresponding author will be requested to submit it. Manuscripts lacking the Ethical Statement will not proceed further.
Step 2: Initial Screening and Plagiarism Check
All submissions undergo an initial screening to ensure they align with the journal's scope and guidelines. Manuscripts are then checked for plagiarism using iThenticate or Turnitin software. Only manuscripts with a similarity index below 10% are processed further. Authors of manuscripts exceeding this threshold are required to revise and resubmit within a specific timeframe, failing which their manuscripts are disqualified.
Step 3: Reviewer Selection and Invitation
Once a manuscript passes the plagiarism check, the manuscript, anonymized to maintain double-blind review, is sent to experts in the relevant field along with a detailed evaluation form. Reviewers are selected by the Chief Editor or members of the Editorial Board. They must disclose any potential conflicts of interest upon receiving the invitation to review. Reviewer confidentiality and impartiality are paramount.
Step 4: Peer Review and Feedback
Reviewers provide an objective evaluation of the manuscript, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and necessary improvements. Any uncited relevant works are brought to the authors' attention. The reviewed manuscript, along with the evaluation form (excluding reviewer identity), is returned to the corresponding author for revisions.
Step 5: Revision and Resubmission
Authors must address all reviewer comments and resubmit the revised manuscript. The revised version is again screened for plagiarism to ensure compliance with the <10% similarity requirement.
Step 6: Editorial Scrutiny
The Editorial Board or Chief Editor thoroughly reviews the revised manuscript for adherence to journal formatting guidelines and incorporation of reviewer feedback. Manuscripts not meeting the required standards may be sent back for further revision or rejected.
Step 7: Acceptance and APC Payment
Once the manuscript fulfills all requirements, an Acceptance Letter (Email) is issued. Authors are then requested to pay the Article Publication Charge (APC) to cover production costs. This fee is also non-refundable.
Step 8: Pre-Publication Review and Finalization
Prior to publication, all accepted manuscripts undergo meticulous typesetting and formatting. The proofs are shared with authors and Editorial Board members for final approval. After incorporating any corrections or suggestions, the final version is published online.
